How It Works
-
Getting Started
After you fill out the inquiry form, I will contact you to learn more about you, your vision and I will share more about my process. From there we will create a timeline with due dates for drafts, edits and payments to ensure we meet your timeframe. I will draft up a contract detailing what we discussed and you will make your first down payment.
-
Illustration Process
First we will start with a mood board or collection of inspiration for the illustrations. We will use this to build your main characters and the overall visual theme of the book.
I will set up a page on Notion that will house all of our draft illustrations. Each week I will upload new illustrations and you will provide your feedback. Each illustration will have three rounds of edits with unlimited revisions per round. My goal is to ensure that we are creating the perfect visuals while meeting your timeline.
-
Pricing
Pricing is determined based on how many pages you need illustrated, your timeline, and any additional services you may require. Your contract will include the set fee for the book, however, should you decide on any add-ons, they will be added to your final payment. See FAQs for a more detailed breakdown.
I require a 25% down payment to lock in the contract and that will be followed by 3 additional payments of 25% with the last one taking place after the final illustrations are approved.
Published Client Work
FAQs
-
From start to finish I like to recommend about three months to complete all illustrations and get them ready for publishing. If you need a book completed in a time frame quicker than that, I will add a rush fee to the total cost which we would discuss during the contract stage.
-
I charge per illustration. Each general illustration will have a flat fee ranging from $75-$90. The book’s front and back covers are $150-$200 each.
After you have completed your three revision rounds, each additional round will be $50. I do this to ensure that we are being very diligent in our edits and feedback. This ensures that we can stick to our deadlines. Each revision round can include as many revisions as needed at no additional cost.
-
In order for me to give you an accurate quote for your book, I will need to know how many pages that I will be illustrating and what your deadline is. Until you have that information, I cannot start working on the book. That said, we can certainly hop on a consult call so that I can explain the process to you and answer any questions you may have. I work with clients at all stages of readiness. We just do not enter a contract agreement until you have that information ready.
-
If you need to have your book created in a time frame that is quicker than 2-3 months, there will be a rush order placed which costs anywhere from $300-$500 depending on the number of pages you need illustrated.
If you need more than three revision rounds for your drafts, there is a $50 charge per new illustration round.
If you would like me to help you with formatting for your publisher/uploading the illustrations onto Amazon for you, there is an additional $200 cost.
-
Many of my clients, if not most, have self published through Amazon or independently. You do not need to have a publisher ready but it is helpful to know ahead of time if you plan on using Amazon or a publisher to understand the formatting requirements. If you make this decision later on in the process and your publisher asks for changes to drafts, formatting, etc., that is where the additional costs come in so it helpful to know that information ahead of time but is NOT crucial.
-
When you hire me, you are hiring me to create the perfect illustrations for your story. Before I start illustrating, I will need you to know the general dimensions of your book. If you have a publisher, they will provide you with what you need and if you are publishing independently then I would encourage you to look at sizing options ahead of time as we don’t want to have to cut off or lose any parts of the illustrations during the printing process. We will talk about this during the consult call :)
